Prof. Yong Zhang, CMA Centre for Atmosphere Watch and Services, China

Prof. Yong Zhang, male, Dr., and Doctoral Supervisor. He was born in June 1976. His Ph.D. was obtained from Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and his master's degree was obtained from Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences (CAMS). He received his undergraduate’s degree from Nanjing Institute of Meteorology (NIM). Now, he is the director of Centre for Atmosphere Watch and Services (CAWAS), China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and serves with the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmosphere Watch Programme (WMO/GAW) Green House Gas (GHG) National Focal Point (NFP) of China. He is also the member of the Academic Committee of China Atmospheric Background Reference Observatory. He specializes in operation and research in climate impact assessment, as well as integrated meteorological vertical observation. He plays leading role in application and analysis of new ground-based remote sensing observation data on atmospheric boundary layer and cloud vertical structure in combination with satellite data. He has authored over 60 research papers, including over 30 peer-reviewed articles in international journals such as Environmental Pollution, Geophysical Research Letters, Atmospheric Environment, Atmospheric Research, and Climate Dynamics. In 2020, he was awarded the Advances in Atmospheric Sciences Esteemed Paper Prize.
