Title: The path of green energy transformation under vision of carbon neutrality

Abstract: Climate change has emerged as one of the major challenges faced by mankind. It has become a non-traditional global security issue, which causes a serious threat to the survival of human being and sustainable development. On the path of green energy transformation under vision of carbon neutrality, countries around the world are facing common challenges and opportunities. In order to combat climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve sustainable development, many countries are actively promoting the green energy transition. China's commitment to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 has important strategic significance for building a modern socialist country with harmonious coexistence between human and nature. Facing the challenge of China's carbon peak and carbon neutrality, this presentation proposes, through energy transformation, to promote electric decarbonization and zero carbonization power and zero carbonization fuel on the energy supply side, and to enhance energy utilization efficiency, re-electrification, and intelligence on the energy demand side. Thus, a clean, zero-carbon, safe and efficient energy system will be established with new energy as the main body and fossil energy plus carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and nuclear energy as the guarantee.

Title: Integrated energy storage and conversion devices: Road to net zero carbon emission

Abstract:Energy use and consumption have both skyrocketed in the modern period. To assure enough energy supply as well as to achieve the goal of becoming carbon neutral nations by as early as 2050, renewable energy has become greatly essential. Thus, the development and investment in energy storage and energy harvesting devices are also gradually increasing to solve the inconsistent nature of renewable sources. Herein, this research is reported on the fabrication of high performing hydrogel polymer electrolytes and binder-free battery-type electrodes using microwave-assisted hydrothermal method to be used in energy storage and energy harvesting devices. This study is also carried out to construct a high-performing all-in-one supercapacitor based on hydrogel polymer electrolytes and binder free electrodes. The fabricated all-in-one hydrogel supercapacitors is aimed to significantly produce more compatible energy storage devices, especially for wearable applications with higher mechanical strength, capacitance, and stability.  In addition, we are also proposing the integration of energy storage devices and energy harvesting devices. This new integration perspective is expected to be a boost for the development of next generation vehicles towards clean, affordable energy in line with Sustainable Development Goal  7 and Net Zero Carbon Emissions.

Title: Switched Capacitor Power Electronics for Energy Systems Supplied by Photovoltaics

Abstract: When PV cells are used as supply energy sources, tough and contradictory requirements are imposed on the front- end power electronics : a) necessity of boosting and stabilizing the very variable and low dc voltage provided by photovoltaics in order to give a constant (dc or rms ac) voltage to the consumers, the necessity of suppressing the typical leakage current of the PVs which otherwise would diminish the efficiency and inject disturbance in the grid, the necessity of a continuous input current absorbed by the power electronics circuit in order to prolong the lifetime of the solar cells, the necessity of a energy- processing high efficiency, the necessity of a small components count in the power electronics circuit. The switched-capacitor converters and multilevel inverters proved to be the ideal solution in such applications due to their small size, low weight, high power density, high efficiency , a very high voltage step-up factor, automatic capacitor voltages balance, exceptional good line and load regulation  for providing a constant dc ( or rms ac) output in any conditions (insolation, etc). The purpose of this talk is to present the basic principles of the switched-capacitor techniques and to discuss misunderstandings ( particularly about the efficiency and regulation)  still spread even among the specialists in switched-capacitor converters and inverters.
